`Well, I suppose someone has to be the first, so here I go:
I was moved to Washington (note choice of words) at age 17. Mom chose Washington, her lifelong dream, because it does not have hot summers (although she still thinks it does -- some people are never satisfied). To me. that is a reason NOT to choose it!
Several times I have left to go live other places, but you know how it is: wherever your family settles, that place keeps pulling you back, like it or lump it. I have had a love/hate relationship with Washington right from the start -- I could spend as many summers here as you please, but the other 8 months of the year, when the daylight hours are almost nonexistent, and it is dark even in the daytime due to clouds... let's just say, spending 8 months of the year with nothing on my mind except longing for summer to come back is not a life to make me fall in love with a place.
This year -- with my expedition to Wonder Mountain in the Olympics over Memorial Day weekend, and finally visiting Mt. Rainier for the first time over 4th of July weekend -- I have completed my list of all the places in Washington I wanted to go. But my current livelihood is here, and that is nothing to take lightly, so I'll be here for the indefinite future.
